Next Project.

We desperately need a rug for our living room.  It's hardwood floors, and we have a hardwood coffee table that doesn't match the wood on the floors and it slides all over the place, which drives me bonkers.

When I say we desperately need a rug, that's probably not really true, but I'm allowed to be dramatic every once in a while.  I would just really, really like one because I think it would bring us one step closer to having a real, grown-up apartment.

Things for the Apartment...

Although we have lived in our ‘new’ apartment for almost 2 whole months now, there are still some major things that we need to buy in order for the place to feel complete.  Of course, because these are major things, they take some major money.
Which we don’t have.
So here’s my wish list.  Maybe one day I can use it as a reference to actually go out and purchase some items…

Pendleton Wool Pillows

So, if you didn’t already know, I like to make jewelry in my spare time.  In an attempt to make it a lucrative hobby, I’ve created my own Etsy shop.  Now, I’m not the most ontop of it all the time (I tend to list things for a very long time and forget to update it) but stick with me!  I’m trying!
Anyways, I was recently befriended on Etsy by the lovely shop call Robin Cottage.  She sells vintage findings as well as these really awesome pillows, made out of upcycled Pendleton wool blankets.  I’ve picked out my favorites below—I just think they would all look so good together on a nice neutral sofa!

More Lighting Inspiration...

Hi friends!
Remember oh-so-long-ago when I wrote about this amazing chandelier?
Well, I’ve found another great lighting idea that looks like a pretty easy and low-cost DIY project:
So many turn of the century apartments (which I hope to live in) have been retro-fitted to meet fire code with exposed pipes to accommodate a modern sprinkler system, and more times than not, those exposed pipes are ugly.
I mean, UG-LY.
Covered in rust-slightly bowed in the middle-uneven gloopy paint-and commonly covered in mysterious smudge-ugly.
.
.
.
Y’all know what I’m talkin’ about.
I think this is an INGENIOUS way to turn those pipes into something useful and beautiful!  Slap a coat of fresh black or white paint on it, and wrap some electrical wire with one of those super trendy Edison bulbs on the end.  BAM.  Done.
Some bright red fabric covered wire like this would look so amazingly great in a mostly-neutral room!
Just an idea that I may or may not use in the future.  ;)

For Future Reference

Things I would like in my future apartment:
1. Gallery wall of artwork. (Both my own and my friends’ over the years)
2. Awesome display of my glass bottle collection my mom has tried and failed at getting me to throw out.
3. A terrarium. Thrift store glass piece with Etsy air plants. (I know terrariums are so cool right now and fad-y but I love anything green in my home and always have. So HAH!)
4. THIS couch. (it used to come in that color-love it!)
5. A wall of chalkboard paint in the kitchen to keep track of recipes, grocery lists, and the sweet nothings my boyfriend will write to me. ;)

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

So, I know I’ve been gone lately.  Yesterday was my Thesis final review, so now that it’s finished I can come out of hiding.  So happy to finally be done!

Now its just a countdown to graduation. :)

Moroccan Lanterns

I have always wanted one of those really awesome Moroccan style multi-pointed star lanterns.  I love just about all of them; ones with colored glass, clear glass, metal, mirror, anything, I love them all.  Here are three that I found that I like that range from the more traditional, to the more modern:
I can’t explain how much I love these things.  There is just something about the contrast between the glass panes and the thin, brass edges that just, well, gets me.
I don’t think my current home has an appropriate spot for one, but someday, I will have a lamp like this and it will look fabulous.

Wow

There are so many things I love about this image I found on Design Attractor.
Of the many things I love in life, one of the things very high on my list is SHOES.  I know, call me a stereotypical girl all you want, but I don’t care.  I love shoes.  I will always love shoes.  I can’t ever have enough shoes.  I may actually buy a pair today.  (so there!)
I am also a bit OCD.
So, naturally, I LOVE THIS CLOSET.  It’s all about shoes and it’s color-coordinated and there are lots of books (I love reading, too) and lots of natural light and the chandelier adds just the right touch of class.  I can only hope that one day, my apartment will sport it’s very own shoe-and-book closet.
